Our Toxic World

We constantly live in a toxic and polluted environment. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the plastics and heavy metals we indirectly consume from packaging and the environment, and the cosmetic and aesthetic we apply on a daily basis. While most of this is out of our control, there are several things that YOU can do to ensure that you stay healthy and prevent toxicity buildup in the body.

Get out in nature as often as you can. Nature gives us a sense of calming and grounding as well as an abundance of clean oxygen.

Ditch the tap water. There are so many chemicals, metals, and drug metabolites in our drinking water. Get a good water filter system or drink bottled spring water.

While this post includes the food additives/chemicals that you should avoid when making food selections, by eating a #wholefood, predominately #plantbased diet, you naturally prevent your exposure to these toxic substances. Plant-based foods are also rich in antioxidants, which help our body combat the daily onslaught of chemicals and toxins we are exposed to on a daily basis. Granted, when transitioning your diet, you may need to consume some processed and packaged foods until you can learn to cook for yourself.

Replace your non-stick cookware with cast iron, ceramic, and stainless steel appliances. Ditch your plastic tupper ware with glass and always look for BPA-free containers/cans. Choose dish soap without triclosan or quaternium-15. If you eat fish, choose small oily fish like salmon, sardines, and herring and avoid bigger fish like tuna and swordfish.

Download the app "Think Dirty," an unbiased product comparison app that shows you all the potentially toxic ingredients in your cosmetics and personal care products. Remember, your skin is an absorbable organ and almost everything you apply to your skin goes directly into your body.

Ultimately, it's your body. Now, more than ever, are we in a constant state and need for detoxification. You are the sum of your processes and routines you do on a daily basis. Don't fight your body, help your body. It will thank you.
